TDS & EC Meter (Measurement of Water Quality, Drinking Water and Hydroponic)
TDS & EC Meter is a tool to measure combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid, specially in water. The measurement is simple, fast and most advanced sensors require only a little maintenance. TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids and is measured in PPM or parts per million. We can use TDS meter to check our drinking water and to make sure quality of our drinking water. The presence of dissolved solids in water may affect its taste. According to WHO, The palatability of drinking-water has been rated by panels of tasters in relation to its TDS level as follows:
TDS (mg/litre)

Checking Total dissolved solids (TDS) by TDS & EC meter is very simple. Switch on the tool by pushing the button and also open the tools cover. We can enter direcly the tool to water but only the tip that contains iron. The value of total dissolved solids will show at display.
An Electrical Conductivity (EC) measures the electrical conductivity in a solution and measured in mS/cm or millisiemens per centimeter. In other words you could test the same solution with two different meters and get two totally different readings. But the EC is read the same by all meters the only difference is the conversion factor.
To get an EC value, multiply the ppm reading by 2 and divide by 1000.
Thus, if your EC is 1:
1*1000/2= 500 ppm.
And if your ppm is 500:
500*2/1000= 1 EC
